There was a guy or group in Moldova who used his / their own server and scripts to generate billions of sub-domains and pages on the fly, whenever Google's indexing bot visited, and convinced the Google index that a few billion new sites were live on the net.

Spamming millions of websites and generating 3 - 5 billion pages for Google to index takes a huge hunk of hubris, and is not ok. The violence done to Google and the internet as a whole is inexcusable. Spammers, click-fraud artists, phisher's pharmers, identity thieves, etc., need to be caught quicker, faster, and with better technology. Their terror reigns globally, so why aren't they included in the war on terror? We'd at least get better technology to stop these villains who are, again, terrorists, and should be treated as such.
