Political Hubris Stopped
Posted February 16th, 2007 by NonEuclideanThough it's only a symbolic & non-binding measure, the U.S. Congress deserves kudos for, at least in a "symbolic" and "non-binding" manner, rejecting the President's hubris to send more troops into the unpopular, expensive, and unnecessary war zone of Iraq.
It's an exercise in hubris and greed to send more U.S. troops to fight a foreign cause on foreign soil for the personal agenda of a few wealthy elite. The U.S. troops are brave super-citizens (and really deserve to call themselves 'citizen' more than most), but, if called to combat, should be fighting for a justifiable cause.
Consumer Exploitation Agreed
Posted February 14th, 2007 by TruthierI must agree with Iris.
Today is Valentine's Day, but why must we take a specific day of the year to focus on those we love? We should cherish our loved one's to our fullest all day every day. It seems this holliday was invented to sell chocolates and roses & smells like consumer exploitation.
Consumer Exploitation
Posted February 14th, 2007 by iris16_azI had originally posted this during the "Holiday" season titled "Hubris in the Holidays," but, apparently the system 'hiccuped' my entry out during an update. Anyway, I think the following (the former post) is relavant anytime:
Why is it that with every holiday season comes the inevitable question of consumer exploitation? Why is it that with every holiday season comes the barrage of claims that the holiday season was invented by corporations?
Hubris' Definition Continued II

Hubris, as applied to in this scenario, is the thing in which people stop truely communicating becuase one person(s) considers their opinion superior to other opinion, and goes so far as to think their opinion is "truth."
While this may be one element of Hubris, this is also true for beliefs, faiths, ego, and everything else that intrisicly prevents a person or body of people from "truely communicating."
Also, what is "true communication"? This should be further considered, defined, and explicated.
